Frankfurt 1927 – World Capital City of Music
The three-month-long world exhibition “Music in the Lives of the Peoples of the World”, with examples from all epochs and continents, over 800,000 visitors and over one hundred concerts in all stylistic directions, a summit meeting of the great interpreters and contemporary composers – that was the “Summer of Music 1927” in Frankfurt. The Richard Wagner Association of Frankfurt will be organising presentations and music to commemorate this historical event of over 90 years ago, when the New Music of Paul Hindemith was also creating a sensation in the architectonically new Frankfurt. His composition Des kleinen Elektromusikers Lieblinge (“The Little Electronic Musician’s Favourites”, originally for three Trautoniums) will be performed on 2 December in a transcription for saxophone and piano. The Hindemith pupil Gerhard Schroth will perform on the Bauhaus grand piano of Ferdinand Kramer.
