Hindemith's estate contains a chronologically arranged collection of programme notes that documents his concert and recital activities from 1912 to 1963 almost without gaps. The programmes have either been preserved as original concert slips or programme booklets or were handwritten by Hindemith from memory. They bear consecutive numbers which Hindemith stamped on the programme notes until his emigration to Switzerland in August 1938. After that, he continued this numbering, which is incorrect in only a few cases, by hand.
