The music of Paul Hindemith was observed and performed with great interest during the 1920s in the Soviet Union. The new Hindemith Yearbook presents texts of Russian musicians and musicologists in German translation for the first time. The reception of his music is surprisingly wide-ranging, even under the influence of political or ideological guidelines.
