Hindemith Days 2022 - Welcoming address of the Head of Cultural Affairs in Frankfurt am Main, Dr Ina Hartwig
Paul Hindemith’s birthday on 16 November has become a well-established date in the Frankfurt events calendar: the Hindemith Institute Frankfurt has held the Hindemith Days in cooperation with the Frankfurt University of Music and the Performing Arts [HfMDK] and other partners around this time of the year since 2005. The Hindemith Institute Frankfurt, an institution of the Fondation Hindemith, Blonay (CH), preserves the oeuvre and undertakes research into the substantial and significant estate of the composer. The proximity of the Institute to the HfMDK greatly facilitates the collaboration between academic research and musical performance, encouraging cooperation projects such as the Hindemith Days. This is entirely in the spirit of Paul Hindemith who always placed a special focus on his concept of an integrated musical cosmos in which creative, performing and theoretical approaches to music were irrevocably interwoven. Additional partners this year include the Musik in St. Katherinen Frankfurt, the publishing house Schott Music and the town of Hanau who will be working together to provide a colourful, diverse and highly varied birthday celebration for Paul Hindemith.
I wish the Hindemith Days 2022 every success and all the best.
