A seminar on the usefulness of a complete edition for artists will be held on 15 November 2014 from 11:00 AM until 3:00 PM at the Frankfurt Music Academy. Professor Ernst-August Klötzke, music theoretician and composer, and Dr. Luitgard Schader, edition director of the Hindemith Complete Edition, will provide an introduction to this subject for students. They will explain the contents of a critical report and the importance of the introduction in a volume. The content of the sketches, the "encoded message" of the outward form of a manuscript, the knowledge about the composer as a person hidden in the sources and reproduced in the edition will be illuminated in discussion with the students.

Seminar on Hindemith's Music Theory Corresponding to the Concert Programmes
Starting in the winter semester 2014/15, Hindemith will also be the subject within the framework of a seminar in music theory and analysis at the HfMDK. Gerhard Müller-Hornbach, Professor of Composition at the HfMDK and Dr. Heinz-Jürgen Winkler from the Hindemith Institut Frankfurt, will come to terms with the theories of the composer from his textbook "Unterweisung im Tonsatz" (The Craft of Musical Composition). His theoretical considerations and practical instructions are to be comprehended in the analysis of selected works and in practical, technical exercises. This seminar corresponds with the concert programmes of the Hindemith Days performed by students of the Music Academy.
The Hindemith Days have been realised in cooperation with the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Frankfurt am Main.
