Paul Hindemith: Symphonia Serena
Ed. by Luitgard Schader. - Mainz: Ernst Eulenburg, 2014 (Edition Eulenburg No. 8104)
Reprinted from Paul Hindemith: Sämtliche Werke, Vol. II, 5
The musical text of the Hindemith Complete Edition forms the basis for the editions presented here in the tradition-steeped series of Eulenburg pocket scores. Both works were written during Hindemith's years of exile in the United States. The Symphonic Metamorphosis, composed in the summer of 1943, is still today his most popular and frequently played orchestral work. The Symphonia Serena was composed in late 1946, composed in response to a commission from the Dallas Symphony Orchestra and its principal conductor, Antal Dorati.
