Exhibition at the Culture Forum in Hanau
Paul Hindemith composed trailblazing works for the viola, including seven sonatas, four concertos and several chamber works. As an internationally successful concertising violist, he was one of the greatest of his guild. The exhibition “Paul Hindemith and the Viola” presents original manuscripts and facsimiles documenting Hindemith's work as a composer for the viola and his soloistic career spanning decades. Another area explored by the exhibition is Hindemith’s lifelong commitment to musical amateurs.
The musical contributions to the exhibition’s opening ceremony will be provided by Tobias Reifland (viola). Opening: 22 April 2017, 5 pm
