With a view over Lake Geneva, Blonay lies above Vevey and Montreux at an altitude of 600-700 metres above sea level; it can be reached from Lausanne in 30 minutes via the motorway or by railway. Protected by its proud castle built during the 12th century, Blonay is well known for the quality of its mild climate and for the charm of its slopes and forests. In the vicinity of the peak of the neighbouring Pleiades (1400 m), athletes have a variety of possibilities for mountain climbing, hiking and skiing during all seasons. The region has excellent hiking trails as well as lifts and slopes for skiers.
The historical Blonay-Chamby Steam Railway, the botanical garden, the various Museums in Vevey, including for example the Alimentarium which provides information about international nutritional habits, the Museums of Games, of Art and of Cameras are also open to visitors all year round.
Montreux with its international Music Festivals (jazz and classical), Vevey with its year-round chamber music series and Lausanne with its extensive concert programmes are also easy to reach via public transport.
Arrival
Airplane: from Genève-Cointrin International Airport with direct rail connection to Vevey.
Railway: via Lausanne and Vevey. Blonay lies on the narrow-gauge line Vevey - Blonay/Les Pléiades. We can be easily reached by walking 4 minutes from the stop Château de Blonay (train stops upon request). From there, walk down along the main street to where it curves to the right: there is a sign that says «Fondation Hindemith». Follow this sign to the left, then the driveway is on the left. (see also: Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) timetable ›››)
Auto: via motorway coming from Geneva or Berne/Fribourg, exit Vevey. The sign Blonay/St-Légier is indicated after this. Drive through the town of St-Légier on the main street and turn right after the first railway crossing. After 30 metres, the first entranceway on the left leads to the Music Centre (you will see the sign «Fondation Hindemith» on the main street, by the entrance as well).
